Welcome to My New Blog

I am inviting you to my new blog, The Path. As the president of BiblicalTraining.org, I thought I would start by inviting people committed to BiblicalTraining.org.

My overall concern in life is to encourage people to have an informed love of God. The blog will be dealing with issues broadly connected to this idea, known theologically as sanctification.

The name of the blog comes from the book I am working on, which is based on the imagery of the gate and the path in Matthew 7:13–14. My concern in the book is to help new believers begin their spiritual journey well. But when I preached on the topic, I realized that many people who were raised in the church did not understand even the basics of the Christian life. This blog will address those issues.

In Colossians 1:9-12, Paul prays that the Colossians may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, in order that they may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

If we are truly filled with an understanding of God, we will live a life worthy of the Lord, enabled to do so by the power of the Holy Spirit, and will show it in the fruit we bear. As a result, we will continue to increase in knowing God.

That's what this blog will be about. I imagine I will be blogging twice a week.

This relates to the instruction to "Study to show yourself a workman approved unto God who needs not to be ashamed rightly dividing (discerning) the word of God".

My wife and I have a home bible study for 28 years: for new adult believers and surprisingly, many church goers who were never discipled. We call it the Lamb Shop. I cover five basic teachings over 4-6 months: prayer, worship (John 4:), fellowship (1john:1), evangelism, and scripture. Our goal is to feed the lambs, not recruit for a church. We are now starting a new bible study for continuing discipliship we call SYZYGY, (Math 11:28, Phil 4:1) Understanding what scripture is, and how to study it, is essential to abiding in Christ

Bill, I have used some of your materials like Greek for the Rest of Us, to help some of our staff at CityChurch in San Antonio, Texas, learn to use Greek tools in the context of doing inductive bible study through both the book of Philippians and 1 Thessalonians. I'm a product of Dave Anderson via Zane Hodges. I know this tells you volumes about my perspectives. Thanks for your work! I'm presently doing two things that relate to what you are doing. Together with our digital team, we are producing a series of videos based on 2 Peter 1.5-7 to help people grow spiritually. We are calling it the Journey: from faith to love. I believe this is a template for spiritual growth I'm also still helping certain of our staff who have a hunger for the study of the scriptures, to learn how to do basic inductive bible study as Professor Hodges taught Dr. Anderson, who passed it on to me. (Dr. Anderson was my mentor, and is now president of Grace School of Theology, headquartered in The Woodlands, Texas, north of Houston.) I'm going to follow your blog, comment from time to time, and use your book and course online to encourage others to grow in their ability to live an informed life that loves God. Dear Mr Mounce In your books BBG and MBG on p. 128 and 290 respectively, you stated that the aorist subjunctive is not augmented. I have been analysing the verb λέγω and in your Analytical Lexicon, on p. 165, I see five entries for λέγω aor act subj beginning with an ε which is a normal augment for the aorist (e.g. ειπητε). The ε is part of the stem and not an augment, so it stays. Check out the details in my Morphology.

I am impressed with your emails. Greek grammar and usage in relation to translation trends and their difficulties thereof. Now am interested in your blog as well. May God inspire you.
