Help on Accessing and Using Google+

Because we use private groups on Google+ (so you wouldn't have any hesitations about what to share), you can gain admittance only when your teacher invites you. Here is the process.

1. You need to fill out your user account on BillMounce.com. It will be less confusing if you use the same gmail address for your user account and for accessing Google+ (below).

2. You will need a free gmail email address. Go to www.gmail.com to create one (if you don't already have one).

3. You will reveive an invitation in your email. If you do not receive it, please check your spam and whitelist the teacher's email. The email's appearance will be different depending on which email client you use.

When you open the email, click on "Accept invitation."

Sometimes there are problems sending out the invitations. In those cases your teacher will make the community public for a short time. Please go to the url your will be given and join.

Check the upper right corner and make sure you are logged into Google with your gmail address.

Then click the Accept button.

4. If all goes well, you will be taken to the Google+ community and given access.

Please bookmark the url for the Google+ Community. If you forget, it is also listed on the cohort page.

Problems

We have seen problems at this point, and generally it means you are logged into Google with a different email than the one you are using for class. Check the icon in the upper right corner and make sure it is the same email account that you sent your teacher.

Posting

When you are signed in to Google+, check the Filter settings. They are on the left side.

If you see nothing below "Filter," click the down pointing graphic to see the chapters of the book.

To post, first select the correct chapter and then click the green circle.

Commenting on posts

Google will show you the post, and one of the comments made to the post along the bottom.

To see the rest of the comments, click the circle (as above) or on the one comment showing.

App

Don't forget about the Google+ app. It is a great way to stay in touch with your classmates. Be sure to leave notifications on so the app can tell you when there is a new post.
