For an Informed Love of God

Foundational Greek

Welcome to our Foundational Greek class (formerly, the Biblical Greek Primer). In these lectures you will learn enough Greek to be able to:

  • understand the information displayed by a Strong's Bible;
  • do real Greek word studies, all without memorizing vocabulary and paradigms;
  • go deeper in your Bible study by using better dictionaries, encyclopedias, and especially commentaries.

For more information, see our landing page.

How to Navigate

You can start by clicking the Table of Contents to the left. Click here to download the study notes for the class.

The order of the classes in the textbook differ from the order of the lectures in the video; Bill changed his mind while writing the book. This class follows the order of the book.

The first three lessons are free

The lessons and screen casts for the first three lessons are free, so you can see the quality of the class. You will need to purchase the class if you want to see the rest. You can order the class on dvd or purchase 365 days of access to the online lectures.

Each lesson has two parts

  • The lectures cover the basic content
  • The screen casts show you how to use what you have just learned when using your Bible search software. This hands on experience is crucial to learning and applying Greek to your Bible study.

Which Bible search software do you use?

Our current screen casts use Accordance Bible search software (version 9), but even if you use other software you can benefit from the screen casts. Bill lists his recommended modules for Accordance in the Class Orientation.

The Greek for the Rest of Us Series

  • Foundational Greek is the first of three classes.
  • The second is called Church Greek, which teaches you enough Greek to use reverse interlinears.
  • The third is Functional Greek, which will teach you even more Greek so you can use traditional interlinears.

Along with these two types of interlinears, you will be going deeper into your other Bible study tools. The three classes are sequential; each one assumes you know the content of the previous class.
